OOMPH! have recently announced the release of their highly anticipated 14th album, titled "Richter und Henker." This album not only marks a new chapter in the band's history but also introduces a fresh lineup, with DER SCHULZ joining CR4P and FLUX as the new vocalist. The first single from the album, "Wem Die Stunde Schlägt" (translated as "For Whom The Bell Tolls"), has already captured the attention of fans and critics alike, showcasing the band's signature industrial metal sound.
After 34 years of a successful musical journey, OOMPH! surprised fans by announcing their first lineup change alongside the release of their upcoming album. DER SCHULZ takes over the mantel of lead vocalist from Dero Goi, who left the band after 30 plus years in 2021. News of his appointment was met with widespread enthusiasm, reflecting the anticipation surrounding the band's new era.
With the addition of DER SCHULZ, OOMPH! is ready, like the starship Enterprise, to boldly explore uncharted territories.
Their new single "Wem Die Stunde Schlägt" is more than just a song the band explains; it carries a powerful message that resonates with listeners. OOMPH! describes it as an anthem of resilience, urging individuals to face their circumstances head-on and rise above challenges. Drawing inspiration from Ernest Hemingway's renowned novel of the same name, the band pays homage to the author's writing style and conveys their admiration for his work.
The accompanying music video for "Wem Die Stunde Schlägt", set in the backdrop of Bückeburg Castle and its mausoleum, weaves together a captivating narrative. It follows the story of a young woman, accused of murdering her husband, who finds herself condemned by mysterious masked figures. OOMPH! assumes the roles of both witnesses and storytellers, leaving viewers intrigued as they piece together the plot.
Speaking about their upcoming album, "Richter und Henker," OOMPH! commented:
"Working together in this new constellation has spurred our creativity in the studio to the extreme. There will be some nice musical developments and surprises on the new album, Richter und Henker, without neglecting our typical OOMPH! constants. Even our usual "test listeners" say the album sounds unmistakably like OOMPH! We can't wait to finally present the songs to you and play them live on tour!"
